Self watering window boxes are a new fad popping up in any place you look. And why not? Drip Irrigation kits are one recipe of achieving self watering window boxes that comes in two flavors. The first flavor is the use of a container, bottle, or other water storehouse device that can be filled and spiked into the dirt. There are a variety of products such as the Aqua Spikes and such that can perform this and work perfectly for vacations. The second flavor is the use of a kit. Kits regularly involve the use of hose that attaches on one end to an outdoor faucet and on the other end provides continual drip into the box. You only have to check up on them every so often to make sure that they are persisting to function properly.

It involves the use of a water depot insert that sits on the lowest of the window box or planter. The Wickinator is an example of one of these products. The last recipe for self watering window boxes is to coordinate with your sprinkler system. Sometimes sprinklers can be redirected to hit a row of planters. For more developed applications, pipe can run from out the ground up to the box where a variety of attachments can allow it to drip or sprinkle into the box. These can either be real cheap and easy or they can be complicated and more high-priced depending on the setup.
